"Lloyds Toys" Toy ShopWork In Progress
Click on the images to go to my Flickr page if you wish to leave a comment about my progress so far. Currently at the design stage, this shall be a LEGOŽ model of the toy shop I used to work in. The designs so far include an initial floor plan of the ground floor, the Schleich stand and the counter, all of which have been designed seperately from the rest of the building. When I came to start work designing the actual building, I decided the Schleich stand had too large a foot print that made it not look right, so I came up with a different version, both of which can be seen below with reference pictures of the real thing.
The ground floor designs for the actual building are almost complete. All of the shelving and the Sylvanian Families stands have been designed as part of the building, the only exceptions are the separately designed parts shown above, the locations of which, have been marked so that I know how they fit in. The first image below shows a close up of the Sylvanian Families stands in the designs with a reference picture of the real things to compare with. The second of the images below shows the progress on the ground floor designs so far. All that remains on that to do is the framework that will support the stairs, the wall alongside the stairs and the base including the floor tiles. Although the designs show the stairs as being orange, I shall be using dark orange parts when I come to build the final model. I feel that the dark orange is the closest colour match to the carpet I can get using LEGOŽ bricks, but the computer program I am using to make the designs doesn't have the dark orange as a preset colour.
Moving onto the middle floor, the pictures below show the back section which incorporates the Hornby and Scalextric cabinets that have been designed in situ and the staff area. The staff area still needs detailing and the walls building up to ceiling height. The rest of the middle floor, although the layout is planned, requires the walls and shelving to be built up and the addition of a staircase leading up to the top floor from the staff area. The back walls have all the window panels in place, but still need the framework for half of them to be attached to and the front wall of the shop still needs to be designed from scratch.
