Great Western Railway Four-wheeled Slat-sided Milk VanCompleted November 2010
This was one of the first conversion attempts I made based on a magazine article. I started this 9 years ago, but only recently found it again waiting to have the painting finished, so after having a coat of paint and some transfers, here it is. The model itself is a freelance design by Mike Smith who described the construction in the January 2001 issue of Railway Modeller, published by Peco Publications and Publicity Ltd. I followed the article which explains how to remove the sides from an N gauge Peco pallet van and replace them with the slatted sides, which are hand built using microstrip, and how to do the other basic modifications. The converted body is then mounted on a Peco 15 foot brake van chassis. Finally, it has been painted in Great Western Railway Freight Van Brown and the GW lettering applied to the sides. Click on the images to go to my Flickr page if you wish to leave a comment about my model.
